  • Joyce Erony Managing Partner Ms. Erony has more than 30 years experience as a principal in investing activities, business development and investment banking.  Prior to founding Majalin in 2015, she was a Managing Director at Signet Healthcare Partners, a growth capital healthcare fund in New York.  Joyce has led or co-led investments Inspire Medical Systems (IPO), Essential Medical (sale), Icon Biosystems (sale), Peak Surgical (sale), Dow Parma Sciences (sale), Anteis (sale), and Atlantis (sale).   She is currently a Director of Inspire Medical Systems and Miach.   Based in New York City, Ms. Erony leads the Firm’s activities in med tech and specialty pharma.

    Previously, Ms. Erony was a strategic advisor to Alcon Labs and a Managing Director at Citigroup responsible for the Bank’s activities in specialty pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

  • Scott E. WeinerPartnerScott joined Amzak Health in 2020 and leads the Firm’s activities to expand and manage its biotech portfolio.  Prior to that he was a Partner at Pappas Capital where he spent 13 years focused on life science venture investing.  Scott was previously an investment manager and research analyst for Silverback Asset Management’s life science fund where he focused on healthcare securities investing.  Before joining Silverback, he spent three years at Chicago Growth Partners focused on healthcare venture investments, and prior to that, he spent three and a half years in investment backing at Lehman Brothers where he worked in New York, London and Hong Kong.  Scott has been a buy side investor in the life science sector for over 18 years and has been involved in over 30 venture transactions including Achillion (NASDAQ: ACHN), Inhibitex (NASDAQ: INHX, acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb), Milestone Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: MIST), Plexxikon (acquired by Daiichi Sankyo), Rotation Medical (acquired by Smith & Nephew) and TESARO (NASDAQ: TSRO, acquired by GSK)
    Scott received an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a BS in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy from Duke University.

  • Uya Chuluunbaatar, Ph.D.PrincipalDr. Chuluunbaatar is a Principal at Amzak Health.  Prior to joining Amzak Health in 2015, she was an equity research analyst at Goldman Sachs, where she covered over 20 biotechnology companies.  In this role she helped initiate coverage of large and mid-cap biotechnology stocks, conducted due diligence and formulated healthcare investment theses.  Prior to Goldman Sachs, she held positions at the New York University Office of Industrial Liaison and at SwitchBiotics, Inc. In both roles, she was responsible for evaluating proprietary early-stage healthcare technologies for commercial development and licensing.
    Dr. Chuluunbaatar completed her Ph.D. in Microbiology at New York University School of Medicine, where she conducted research in virology and cell signaling.  Her work was published in several scientific, peer-reviewed journals, including Genes & Development and Journal of Virology.  She holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Cornell University.

  • Tom MillerAdvisory Board Member Mr. Miller is the Founder and Managing Partner of GreyBird Ventures, a life sciences consultancy and investment firm.  Mr. Miller previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Healthcare’s Customer Solutions Division, responsible for an organization of 26,000 employees in over 130 countries.  His other leadership roles at Siemens included serving as a member of the Group Board of Siemens Medical Solutions, as well as overseeing the company’s global MRI business.  In addition, Mr. Miller has served as the CEO for several other organizations, including Global Medical Operations of Carl Zeiss, Analogic Corporation and LightLab Imaging.  Mr. Miller is on the board of several life sciences companies including KEW Group, NinePoint Medical and VisionGate 3D. 

    Mr. Miller received his B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and received his Masters of Science degree from the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology.

  • Margarita C BernardOperations ManagerMs. Bernard joined Majalin as Office Manager in 2018.  Over the last two decades, Margarita has worked across multiple industries.  She started her career managing accounts and client relations at Eugene Kaufman Inc., a wealth management firm.  For several years, she was the Senior Accountant at Trillium Digital Systems before it was sold to Intel and was an account manager for Karlen Advertising.  Later, Margarita handled operations for the Hip-Hop Civic Engagement Project, a voter registration campaign, and she served as the Office Manager at IDEA Pharma. More recently, she managed the office and finances for MLA Properties.
    Ms. Bernard earned her B.A. in Child Development and Family Studies from California State University (Long Beach).

  • Dave SietSenior AssociateDave Siet is a Senior Associate at Amzak Health. Dave brings over a decade of healthcare experience to the team. Prior to joining Amzak Health, he was the VP of business development at Portal Instruments, a venture-backed startup spun out of MIT. Before Portal, Dave was an Engagement Manager at Health Advances where he worked with clients across the life sciences sector on commercial and growth strategy projects. Prior to that, he was part of the marketing team at SynapDx, a venture-backed autism diagnostic startup. He began his career in the sales organization of Medtronic in the cardiac rhythm disease business unit.
    Dave received an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Masters of Engineering Management from Duke University, and a Bachelors of Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University.
